HYDROELECTRIC POWER PLANTS ON DRINKING WATERWORKS

It is well-known that a large part of the Italian territory is covered by mountains, therefore the country is luckily rich of water reserves.

As a consequence, mountain areas have been equipped with drinkable waterworks for a very long time, which convey water to the places where they are to be used simply by making it fall down.

So, why not try to use existing pipes, capacities and water leaps already used for hygienic/health purposes in order to produce energy power as well?

All this, of course, should not interfere with the main purpose of these waterworks, but simply take advantage of a potential which has remained latent until now.

ESPE has specialised in this activity, by specifically financing studies and research to find a solution to any possible type of impact between the power plant and the characteristics of the water which makes it work.

Performances of turbines do not change, although the utmost care is paid to the materials used, their quality and suitability.

Water remains perfectly drinkable at any time.

Starting from a feasibility study, parameters of the materials are defined, a project is developed and then a turbine is built, taking all the necessary measures.

Every project is, obviously, customised on the basis of the situation of existing waterworks or waterworks undergoing restructuring or being built, aiming to optimise the output of the system in the context in which it is developed.
